Blue Ridge Mountain Bounty is a year-round online local marketplace serving Southwest Virginia. It was created to increase community access to fresh local agriculture & goods and provide a direct sales avenue for local producers in our region. We aim to establish a self-sustaining network of local producers and communities that work together to aggregate and distribute local goods at fair prices. We currently serve Abingdon, Wytheville, and Roanoke. More locations to come. BRMB was created through the shared visions of a local mom seeking to provide her family with healthy, local food, and a local farmer searching for a direct sales avenue for his products. The goal of the Hub is to provide opportunities for producers and communities in the Blue Ridge Mountain region to connect in a way that benefits both, as well as strengthen regional economy, increase food security, and reduce the environmental impact created by importing food from distant states and countries. We support a farm to table model because it is a win-win-win situation for farmers, shoppers, and Southwest Virginia. ~Farmers in Virginia, on average, receive less than 16A of every consumer dollar that is spent buying their products. BRMB is a year-round direct market where producers earn 70A-75A for every consumer dollar spent. Producers are paid 100% of their asking price. ~Shoppers are able to know who, when, and how their food was grown or raised and they receive the freshest goods available. ~We could add $211.7 million to our regional economy if every household in Southwest Virginia spent $10 a week on local products. When local communities buy from local producers, more money stays in the local economy and enriches the quality of life in our region. How it Works The products you will find on our year-round local market are similar to what you would find at Farmeras Markets. In fact, many of our producers also sell at your local Farmeras Market. Producers go through an application process before being approved to sell through BRMB to ensure products are local and safe. 1. BRMB Producers list inventory online. 2. Shoppers place order with BRMB. 3. BRMB Producers deliver to Hub. 4. Order is inspected & sorted. 5. Orders are delivered to pick-up locations and homes. 6. Producers are paid their asking price, fair prices means our local network thrives and grows.
