Farm to ISU Mission Statement-To promote the interaction between local producers and ISU, through increasing our purchases of local products that can be sourced within Iowa. This in turn strengthens Iowa's economy as well as provides fresh, local options to our students and staff; connecting Iowa State University to rural and urban Iowa communities around the state.

Our Definitions-
Iowa Local - products are manufactured and/or processed in Iowa, as well as distributed from a location within Iowa.
Farm to ISU-components of product must be grown/raised in Iowa, and product's origion is traced directly to a farm (ex. Deal's Orchard: Jefferson, IA; originated in 1930, owned by Jerald and Cindy Deal)
Specialty Crops - "Fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, and horticulture and nursery crops, including floriculture" (USDA)
